The Band Perry
About The Band Perry
It’s all in the family with the country group named The Band Perry, Kimbery Perry on lead vocals, guitar and piano, and her brothers Reid Perry, bass and vocals, and Neil Perry, drums, mandolin and vocals. The three siblings grew up together, singing harmonies of country legends Hank Williams and Bobbie Gentry on the front porch, but also practicing licks from Beatles and Rolling Stones songs. Growing up in Mobile, Alabama, the three always played music together, gigging anywhere they could find an audience. At 15, Kimberly, the oldest sibling, fronted her own band, employing her younger brothers as her roadies. But it was not long before Reid and Neil formed their own band, named the Mobile Music Machines, and opened for their sister. The siblings finally formed their own band together and hit the road to refine their sound. In 2008, The Band Perry met country star Garth Brooks’ manager Bob Doyle and, with his help, began putting together songs for their first album. After recording and releasing their first single, ‘Hip to My Heart,’ in 2009, their success began to open up when the song climbed to Number 20 on the country charts. They followed that single with another, ‘If I Die Young,’ and both songs were included in The Band Perry’s self-titled first album, released in 2010 from Republic Nashville Records. The Band Perry’s sound exactly reflects the siblings’ influences. It’s solid country, with a honky-tonk base and a little hint of bluegrass and of corse with a rock sheen when the electric guitar is in. Their lyrics are light, fun and simple to grasp. The Band Perry tickets are a good chance to catch the rising star, a family group that yet is only getting started and will surely make a lasting impact on country and pop music. With their looks, charm and musical adeptness, The Band Perry is so far on their way to more chart-topping success. Judging from their first album success, which has already garnered awards from the Academy of Country Music, as well as nominations for Grammy and American Country Awards, The Band Perry has only just begun.
